Scopre di avere un tumore alla tiroide grazie alla segnalazione di una telespettatrice. E’ quanto accaduto alla giornalista americana Victoria Price.
Mentre era in diretta su Wfla News, con sede a Tampa Bay, in Florida, l’occhio attento di una telespettatrice ha notato un rigonfiamento in corrispondenza del collo e non ha esitato a farglielo notare, scrivendole una mail. Le avrebbe detto di farsi controllare quel nodulo che tanto le ricordava il suo, rivelatosi poi un tumore.

La giornalista non è rimasta indifferente di fronte alla premurosa segnalazione: si è così sottoposta a un controllo che ha, come temeva, evidenziato la presenza di un cancro alla tiroide. Victoria Price ha poi raccontato sui social l’accaduto, ringraziando la telespettatrice, la cui segnalazione le ha permesso di scoprire tempestivamente la malattia e dunque di asportare il tumore e alcuni linfonodi con un intervento chirurgico.

Dagli accertamenti a cui si è sottoposta, pare, fortunatamente, che il cancro non si fosse ancora diffuso. Dovrà sottoporsi a ulteriori cure, ma il peggio sembra ormai passato. (fotografia dalla pagina Instagram di Victoria Price)

Said it reminded her of her own. Hers was cancer. Turns out, mine is too. COVID created some diagnostic delays but I’ll finally be undergoing surgery this Monday to remove the tumor, my thyroid, and a couple of the nearby lymph nodes. Doctor says it’s spreading, but not too much, and we’re hopeful this will be my first and last procedure. Had I never received that email, I never would have called my doctor. The cancer would have continued to spread. It’s a scary and humbling thought. I will forever be thankful to the woman who went out of her way to email me, a total stranger. She had zero obligation to, but she did anyway. Talk about being on your side, huh? The world is a tough place these days. Don’t forget to take care of yourself. Take care of each other.
